Overview

This chapter provides an overview of helminth and protozoal infections as they pertain to the dermatologist, dermatologist in training or medical student. Major parasites are covered with specific emphasis on pathology, clinical presentation and treatment of disease. Parasitic worms and protozoa cause a high proportion of the world's transmissible diseases, particularly in the tropics and subtropics, and they are responsible for some of the most dramatic and serious of the afflictions of the skin.
