Rosacea

Frank C. Powell

Overview

The term rosacea covers a spectrum of changes of the facial skin including facial erythema and follicular inflammation with frequent accompanying ocular dysfunction. It is helpful to classify patients with rosacea into one of four subtypes (erythematotelangiectatic, papulopustular, phymatous and ocular rosacea), as the clinical course and the therapeutic options differ according to the subtype.
Keywords erythematotelangiectatic rosacea, papulopustular rosacea, phymatous rosacea, rhinophyma, ocular rosacea, granulomatous rosacea, idiopathic facial aseptic granuloma, solid facial lymphoedema, corticosteroid‐induced rosacea, periorificial dermatitis
